About Uthenar

Uthenar (you-thee-nar) is a unique Australian, independent, small, boutique, specialised quantitative research organisation focusing on the intersection of geopolitics, regional / national security and current events / perceptions related matters across the Indo-Pacific region, and beyond. Uthenar is data driven and aims to cut through the subjective and identify empirical insights via robust data analytics methods.

At heart, Uthenar is a research-focused, data aggregating analytics organisation. Data collection itself is not a focus of ours. Rather, we focus on the vastness and scale of public and commercial data that already exists. Much of the value from this data has historically been left unexplored or considered in isolation. Our focus is to dive deep into the various public and commercial data sources, then combine and analyse them utilising rigorous methods to identify and present unique and unmatched insights.

Our name borrows from the Greek goddess of knowledge and protector of democracy, ‘Athena’. It was envisaged that through our data driven work we would favour the R and Rust programming languages. So, the two ‘Rs’ were added on the end to represent our quantitative focus and technical heritage. The ‘U’ references our focus on the customer (‘you’) by providing unique and unmatched (‘u’) insights.
